- File/Folder Info Definitions

- Note: This selection allows you to view information on a file or folder of your
- choosing. It also allows you to set its Attributes by choosing the Set…
- button.

- The “Use Alias” checkbox in the selection dialog becomes active when you
- have chosen an alias under System 7. The checkbox allows you to view and
- set the information in the alias file itself, not the target. Remember that
- an alias of a file or folder is actually a file and is labeled accordingly.

- File Related:
- • File Name = Name
- • Path Name = Location of the file
- • File Integrity = Reports if file is damaged [Registered + Checking On]
- • File Type = Finder type
- • File Creator = Finder creator
- • File is Locked = Is the file protected from erasure or name change? This
- status is maintained by the File system
- • File Reference# = Number assigned to an open file. Zero if closed
- • Enclosing Folder ID# = Number assigned to last folder in Path Name
- • Data + Resource Forks:
- ◊ Fork is Open = Is Fork open?
- ◊ Actual (Logical) Length = Number of bytes actually taken by information
- ◊ Allocated (Physical) Length = Number of bytes assigned to the file. This
- amount is dependent upon the Allocation Block Size listed for each
- mounted volume under the Volumes + Drives listing.
- • Dates:
- ◊ Created = Date and time of creation
- ◊ Modified = Date and time of modification
- ◊ Backup = Date and time of backup
- • Finder Related:

- ◊ File is Alias = Is the file an Alias file
- ◊ File is Invisible = Is the file visible/listed by the Finder?
- ◊ File has Bundle Resource = Does the file have a resource that associates
- file types and custom icons for proper display in the finder?
- ◊ File Name is Locked = Can the file name be changed in the Finder?
- ◊ File is Stationary Pad = Is the file a Stationary Pad?
- ◊ File has Custom Icon = Does the file have an icon specifically assigned
- by the user through the Get Info dialog?
- ◊ File is Letter = Is the file an AOCE letter?
- ◊ File has been Inited = Has the Finder included the Bundle Resource and its
- related data in the desktop database?
- ◊ File has No INITs = Does this file contain INIT resources which modify the
- system during startup?
- ◊ File is Shared = Only related to Applications, is this Application available
- to multiple users?

- • Misc Application Related:
- ◊ Certified 32-Bit Clean = Is the code is 32-Bit clean
- ◊ Supports HL Events = Is the application Apple Event aware
- ◊ Supports Remote HL Events = Does the application support remote events
- ◊ Is PowerPC Native = Can the application run native on the Power Mac

- ◊ File is Locked = Is the file Locked via a secondary method which is
- controlled by the finder through this setting
- ◊ File is Invisible = Is the file visible/listed by the Finder?
- ◊ File has Bundle Resource = Does the file have a resource that associates
- file types and custom icons for proper display in the finder?
- ◊ File is System File = Can the file name be changed in the Finder or can it
- be thrown away without a warning?
- ◊ File is Protected (BOZO) = Is the file protected using a crude copy
- protection system later abandoned?
- ◊ File is Busy = Is the file currently open?
- ◊ File has Changed = Has there been a change to the file since it was last
- saved?
- ◊ File has been Inited = Has the Finder included the Bundle Resource and its
- related data in the desktop database?
- ◊ File has No INITs = Does this file contain INIT resources which modify the
- system during startup?
- ◊ File is Shared = Only related to Applications, is this Application available
- to multiple users?
- ◊ Always SwitchLaunch = On startup of the program, should the active
- system be switch to the one residing on the same disk as the program?
- ◊ Never SwitchLaunch = On startup of the program, should the active
- never be switched?
- ◊ File is on Desktop = Is the file currently located on the desktop?

- Folder Related:
- • Folder Name = Name
- • Path Name = Location of the Folder
- • Number of Items in Folder = Includes both files and folders
- • Folder ID# = Number assigned to Folder by operating system
- • Folder is Shared = When File Sharing is on, is this folder a shared folder. It
- is also controlled by the Sharing... menu item
- • Folder is Locked = Is the Folder protected from erasure or name change? Its
- status is maintained by the File system.
- • User Privileges:
- ◊ User is Owner of Folder = Is the user the creator/publisher of the
- folder?
- ◊ User can See Folder = Can user view the contents of the folder?
- ◊ User can See Enclosed Files = Can user view the enclosed files’
- contents?
- ◊ User can Make Changes = Can user change the contents of the
- files/folder?
- • Dates:
- ◊ Created = Date and time of creation
- ◊ Modified = Date and time of modification
- ◊ Backup = Date and time of backup
